Document Packaging
Documents should be placed in envelopes or
plastic doucument bags, if the documents or paperwork needs to
be kept flat they should be placed in a cardboard backed envelope.
All documents should be sealed down and packed for transport, for
goods such as books and folders it may be useful to place these
in jiffy bags or padded evelopes, pad corners well in order to
avoid bending in transit.
Parcel Packaging
Goods should be safely
packed for transport, please remember that not all goods are covered
by insurance so goods should be packed well in order to avoid problems
in transit please see 'Terms and Conditions' for restrictions.
Try to use new boxes where you can, please beware that if you use
secondhand or old boxes they must be fit for purpose, ie placing
electrical goods in a fruit box.
Make sure you seal your box well,
if your goods have parts within make sure these are either boxed
witin the package or sealed in a bag.
Use a double walled box where
you can, try to make sure the goods inside are wrap individualy
in tissue paper or polystyrene, if you are sending a single item
or several items that are delicate make sure you surround with
bubble wrap or a similar cushion in order to avoid damage in transport.
Tightly pack goods in order to prevent movement within the box
during transport. if your goods are long and can be tubed ie Fishing
rods, make sure you pack them in a strong, rigid tube with stiffeners
if possible. Don't forget to seal both ends to prevent loss.
Pallet
Packaging
Goods should be placed on a pallet and straped down,
this can be done by plastic wrap, plastic ties or rope.
Please
make sure your goods do not overhang the pallet, as this can cause
damage to both yours and other goods during the transit process.
Pallets can be found at waste disposal sites, supermarkets, builders
merchants and direct from a pallet wholeseller, please note permission
should be gained from the site owner before you remove a pallet.
Freight Packaging
Freight whether Sea, Road or Air can again we
packed using the guidance from both parcels and pallets.
Please note that the previous above packaging information is for
guidance only and we would always advise that you contact a packaging
specialist before wrapping/packaging valuuble or very unsual items.
With all shipping systems, it is the responsibility of the sender
to make sure the goods are packed and supported for transport as
this has to be kept and may be inspected if a claim is raised,
the arrival of the parcel in a good and staff condition can be
increased by following some of the advice above.
If you are planning
to send valuables, such as antiques or works of art it maybe worth
enlisting a specialist security or courier instead due to insurance
and carriage restrictions which can be found on the 'Terms
and Conditions'
page, they may be able to offer you the protection and insurance
these goods require.
